1. The INFORMATION GATHERING ~

This can take some time, so it is best to be prepared with all the information you want on your globe prior to ordering.

Here, you can share all the place names and family names, dates, and events that you’d like. Of course, I may not be able to fit all the information in detail, giving the nature of it being “handmade”, so keeping it simple is best for the overall design, so it’s not too busy, and leaving room for verbal storytelling to fill in the gaps.

I can also create little illustrations and infographics to represent bigger stories and deeper meanings.

However! It is completely ok if you don’t have a fully formed idea, nor access to much information. It doesn’t have to be a rigourous, full scale representation of your family history. It can be nuanced, informal, or an interpretation. You can have fun with it.

It’s mostly about honoring all of those who came before you (There are lots!).

Also, in the course of our conversations, it is very common for new or forgotten and fascinating ideas to pop up. In this initial “interview”, we can help solidify your vision.

2. The MAKING of THE GLOBE ~

Based on the amount of detail and content you want on the globe, and your budget, we can select the best size.  (see next drop menu)

I can start from scratch with a blank globe to mold into your liking or select an existing painted globe to add on to.

Either way, I’ll use all the inspiration I gained from the stories and information you shared to form what your world looks like.

This is an artistic process, so it could take a few weeks, but rest assured, I will produce a “dream come true” that’ll last forever 

I will keep you updated on the progress and routinely check in to confirm and clarify anything before I “go to paintbrush”. 

3. FINISHING & DELIVERING THE GLOBE:

Before I apply the top coat to preserve the globe forever, I will offer you the option to see it before I send it on it way or keep it as a surprise. If there is a lot of information that needs to be corrected, I will send pictures for you to confirm everything is correct.

At this point, I cannot make any changes to the overall design and content, but I can make corrections.

I can ship anywhere in Australia for whatever means you’d like, and possibly outside of Australia, depending on the customs process.

All globes come with a certificate of authenticity and lifetime guarantee and instructions for care. All globes are sealed with a non-toxic shellac, ensuring long-lasting protection against the elements. 

A very simple, “temporary” wooden base is included. 

A solid wood base is available for  $ 100 for large,. $ 50 for small. These bases are custom-made by local woodturner using salvaged, solid hardwood.

There are 4 sizes: 

O : Selfie Globe ~ An intimate keepsake, like a gemstone or tiny photo in a locket, it can be a subtle reminder and modest honoring of your family name…with a dot or a star or a highlighted country, it can symbolize a larger story. It’s 10 cm in diameter, about the size of a grapefruit. Nice for family members who are young or will not start/have not started family…A perfect Graduation or Birthday Gift!

O : Small Family Globe ~ This is 15 cm in diameter (about the size of a coconut) and can include basic graphics for 2 families. Perfect for “start up” families who may want to grow their “family globe system” into bigger sizes later…A Perfect Wedding gift!

O: Medium Family Globe ~ This is 20 cm (about the size of a bowlingball) and suitable for families that have grown with children. This globe will accommodate personalized hand lettering (no computer font) for names, places and dates for up to 4 family/ generation lines…A Perfect Anniversary gift!

O: Large Family Globe ~ This is the motherlode! At 25 cm diameter (a big watermelon) it’s a nice size for the whole family tree and extended families with grandchildren. Lovely for the grandparents to reflect, share and pass on to future generations…A perfect Retirement gift!

All “Yore Globes” are made from Paulownia…A sustainable, fast growning tree with remarkable attributes and a story of its own.

It comes from China and is wildly grown in Japan. It is known by the name “Kiri” which means “Life” in Japanese. 

The plant as a whole, with its accelerated growth, is a small treasure for humanity: it heals and regenerates soil from erosion, one tree absorbs 22 kg of COz and gives 6 kg of O2.

Low maintenance seedlings can grow robust in infertile soils, including clay. Huge leaves and large crowns provide thick, dense shade.

No chemicals needed bc resistant to pests no herbicides. Natural product (ecologically clean)

Regenerates so no need for re-planting. After each cut, the roots lifespan can reach 100 years, with about 8 cycles.

I can ship anywhere in Australia, no problem. Generaly, it costs $ 20, regular post. I can investigate what i wil take to ship international on an order by order basis. This will most likely cost more especially since it is made from timber and may require further customs and permits for safe transport.
